After a long wait, New Yorkers and visitors alike will be able to indulge in another slice of Ibiza heaven as the number one club in the world opens its North American sister venue this weekend. Opening night will host Michael Mayer, but TVR is particularly excited for Saturday’s event with house authority Duke Dumont. After making his name releasing upbeat house tracks with catchy vocals, Duke released a club inspired EP full of heavy-hitters aptly named, “For Club Play Only,” that should be perfect for energizing the virgin dance floor. Listen here.
The 20,000 square foot Midtown West space has a lot to live up to. It’s Ibiza counterpart is consistently recognized as the best club on Earth, and hosts some of the most recognizable parties ever designed. Although the layout for the grand opening is rumored to only include one music room (compared to Ibiza’s seemingly endless number of… spaces), 2015 is said to bring a rooftop (or in Space terms, a Terrace) and a basement lounge. For this weekend, the club will feature a normal lounge, and another inside recycled shipping containers. You can catch a sneak peak here. Note the moving disco balls on the ceiling of the main room.
Finally, as if there was any shortage of beautiful, talented dancers in NY, Space will leave nothing to chance by flying their very on Space Ibiza go-go dancers to NYC. Maybe Carl Cox will lend them his jet.
